Sean Gullette’s 30-minute film Traitors (2011) – commissioned by Sharjah Art Foundation for Sharjah Biennial 10 – is set to take to the screen this week at the 49th New York Film Festival. The film also appeared at Visions du Réel - International Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, in April this year.
Set in Tangier, Traitors tells the story of Maika, a calm, conservative girl by day and a leader of an all-girl punk group by night. On the eve of the band’s first music video shoot, Maika makes a chance finding in her parents’ home that launches her night into a disturbing adventure.
The film will be screened this Wednesday (05.10.11) at 1.30pm and then the following Saturday (15.10.11) at 4.30pm, at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, New York.
