Project Description
Night Journey follows stories of pilgrimage and devotional practice and focuses on
the symbols and instruments of communication or communion with and between the
supernatural and mankind. Using as its backdrop Palestinian folklore, superstition,
religious custom, talismanic objects and sacred sites to investigate the role of the
mystic and mystery since times past, Night Journey brings supernatural and earthly
elements together, investigating the whys and hows of their relationship, and
attempting to expose the duality of their nature – light and dark, innocence meets
evil, cosmos and chaos.
Special thanks to art students Sara Al Haddad, Maysoun Eid Abou-Houly, Samira Samir Said and Sundus Ameen from the American University of Sharjah, American University of Dubai, and the University of Sharjah.
