Project Description

Richard Ibghy and Marilou Lemmens’ practice is infused with a long-standing desire
to make language visible. The artists approach the language of genres, professions
and areas of specialisation as socially situated dialects, containing within them
traces of values, perspectives and experiences of their speakers. The works presented
in the Sharjah Biennial explore how desire, belief and economy are intertwined.
For Supply and Demand for Immortality they created a speculative measuring device,
based on an economic model of supply and demand, to map contemporary attitudes
towards immortality.
