The Urban Garden, 2016

Overview

Make the most of your visit to Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj by pairing it with one of our workshops, discussions or guided tours taking place this Saturday, 20 May 2017.

In the two workshops for Children’s Open Day 11 from 10:00 am, children can learn how to make mobile garden installations by arranging plants on moving objects and then touring #SAFneighbourhood with them. Children will also learn how to how to create narratives that connect three objects of their choice.

In Excursion: Medicinal Plants in Islamic Culture, participants will meet at SB13 artist Tonico Lemos Auad’s A Moment of the Sky/Four Humours (2016/2017) and embark on a focused tour of SB13: Tamawuj. The tour will be followed by a trip to the Islamic Botanical Garden in Sharjah’s Desert Park, where participants will learn about plants and nutritional facts mentioned in the Holy Quran.

Schools, youth centres or organisations that would like SAF to organise a workshop during the week for children ages 6-18 can contact alkayyat@sharjahart.org or download the full School and Youth Centre Education Programme here.

Ranging from traditional homes to contemporary warehouses, the unique SB13 exhibition spaces are staffed with knowledgeable guides who are happy to take visitors on informative tours of the Biennial in English, Arabic and Urdu.
