Biography

Papy Ebotani is an associate artist at Studios Kabako in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo, and has worked with fellow SB12 artist and choreographer Faustin Linyekula since 2001.

His performances include Drums and Digging (2013), Sur les traces de Dinozord (2012) more more more… future (2009), The Dialogue Series: iii. Dinozord (2006), Festival of Lies (2005-06), Radio Okapi(2003-04), Spectacularly Empty II (2003) and Triptyque sans titre (2002) which have toured extensively in Africa, Europe and the United States.

Engundele, a quatuor (2009), was premiered at the Biennale de Charleroi in Belgium and was performed in Bamako, Brazzaville and Yaoundé.

In 2011, Papy was selected for a 3-month pedagogical residency at the Centre National de la Danse in Paris, where he followed several workshops with Foofwa d’immobilité around Cunningham techniques.
