Job title: Film Programme Manager

Reporting to: Vice President of Sharjah Art Foundation 

Job location:  Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates (On-site)

Rules and Responsibilities

Programming Duties

  • Programme for the annual film festival (Sharjah Film Platform; SFP), year-round film programme, and other related activities (collectively the “Film Programme”) in line with the Foundation’s direction and commitments.
  • Invite and negotiate for films’ inclusion in the Film Programme; coordinate all follow-through with the Film Team and other team of the Foundation—including Operations, Comms, Guest Relations, etc—per agreed system.
  • Write and edit texts related to the Film Programme, including synopses and other promotional material; communicate and coordinate with other teams in the Foundation—including Editorial, Translation, Design, etc.—for all published texts and images, on- and off-line.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with domestic and international filmmakers, distributors, programmers and other industry professionals in order to expand the programming opportunities for the Film Programme.
  • Organise any necessary invited committees and/or advisory groups and coordinate with invited individuals as necessary.
  • Assist in pairing specific Film Programmes with other projects of the Foundation or possible partner organisations.
  • Coordinate with other departments of the Foundation regarding the Film Programme so that necessary information is shared in a timely and clear manner with the Foundation.
  • Strategize with Comms on publicity and marketing angles and provide necessary material for press releases; does press interviews as necessary.
  • Coordinate with Hospitality and Guest Relations to host guests and make certain their needs are met.
  • Work closely with the Vice President and other senior members of the Foundation to develop a long-term road map to the Film Programme.

 

Supervisory Duties

  • Manage the budget and schedule of the Film Team.
  • Manage and supervise the Film team comprised of Film Programme Coordinators and Film. Programme Assistants as line manager; be responsible of work division to work with team on Film Programme from start to delivery.
  • Facilitate Film Team development, performance reviews, and training.

Required Qualification and Experience

Master’s degree in Film Studies, Fine Arts, or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies, Fine Arts, or related field, with 7+ years of experience.

Conditions of Work

The role is a full-time position based in Sharjah, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, and occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
