MM 2014: Collective research session #1: In the Labyrinths of Exhibitions Histories: The International Art Exhibition in Solidarity with Palestine

The International Art Exhibition in Solidarity with Palestine opened in Beirut on March 21, and ran through April 5, 1978. Organised by the Bureau of Unified Information of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the exhibition included some 194 works by 197 international artists from 29 countries. The exhibition was intended as a seed collection for the establishment of a museum of art in solidarity with Palestine that would remain in exile until the state’s independence. Khouri and Salti present elements from their research in trying to reconstitute the story of this groundbreaking exhibition.
