Cooking as Embodied Memory

Cooking as Embodied Memory

Lecture and Cooking Performance
Suvi Wahyudianto (artist); Dicky Senda (artist)
Moderator: Alia Swastika (Director, Biennale Jogja Foundation, and Sharjah Biennial 16: to carry co-curator)

Artists Suvi Wahyudianto and Dicky Senda explore notions of identity, history and narrative reclamation in post-conflict contexts. During his lecture performance, Suvi Wahyudianto will prepare a traditional Indonesian dish while simultaneously reflecting on sociocultural tensions, identity politics and reconciliation, concerns that mark his poetic, autoethnographic approach. Senda will share aspects of his practice as an artist and food activist focused on the dissemination of Indigenous knowledge and the process of decolonisation through culinary and linguistic means within cultural spaces. Curator Alia Swastika will subsequently engage the two in a conversation.
