Sonia Balassanian's obsession with Armenian poetry, script and the practice of writing began early on in life. These forms would emerge into her signature engagement with the artistic movement of Lyrical Abstraction. Removed as detritus from her New York apartment building, these arches, Arch #1 & Arch #2, come to life here resembling tombstones. Within them, we are reacquainted with the artist’s signature scroll—a codification of feelings that continue to effloresce.
