In Heritage Studies #1, Iman Issa renders a pyramid-like form in blackened wood. In scale and material, the structure contrasts with the vinyl text, which refers to a miniature gold-plated metal and limestone pyramid. The disjunction between object and description produces a quiet tension, subtly destabilising expectations of authenticity and historical accuracy. Rather than prescribing a singular interpretation, Issa invites viewers to navigate the gap between recognition and imagination, opening space for reflection on how meaning is constructed and mediated.
