Heritage Studies #3 forms part of Iman Issa’s series ‘Heritage Studies’ (2015–ongoing), in which the artist continues to explore the tension between recognition and interpretation, deliberately privileging openness over resolution. Rather than offering fixed meanings or definitive statements, the works invite sustained reflection. In this piece, a golden crescent is presented alongside a vinyl text describing a ‘green crescent’, producing a subtle dissonance between object and description. This divergence destabilises expectations and encourages viewers to question how meaning is mediated through display.
