Produced over the course of six decades, Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian’s prodigious output is epitomised by the repetitive patterns and structural geometric shapes seen in her mirrored and reverse glass paintings. The kaleidoscopic lines of these glittering geometric sculptures are also mapped out in the artist’s two-dimensional drawings, including her untitled panels created with felt markers and mirrors on plaster (2008). In these works, fine colourful lines create delicate, diagrammatic patterns that take on the appearance of geometric star maps.
