Art writing can often feel like it is happening within in an elusive, self-referential space. How can you write about art, whether a work or an exhibition, and articulate what art is often doing: critically reflecting on the world around us?
Perhaps you remember experiencing an artwork that you felt was timely or relevant. Perhaps you have always wanted to explore its cultural significance. In this session, you will delve into different ways to critically engage with that work and tell an insightful story.
Through a set of writing prompts, you will experiment with points of view, setting and time, combining the personal and cultural to produce an incisive social critique.
Come with an idea or two, the peace of mind to write, and an openness to share.
This session is free, and all materials are provided.
