About the speakers:

Plestia Alaqad is an award-winning Palestinian journalist and author who has emerged as a powerful voice in digital media. Published in April 2025, her book The Eyes of Gaza has become an instant New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe and Indie bestseller. 

Researcher and archivist Faris Shomali is a doctoral candidate in anthropology at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on Palestinian art and the politics surrounding its circulation. He previously served as the Digitisation Manager at the Palestinian Museum Digital Archive.
