With Nourhan Rahhal
Ages 18+
In English and Arabic
Through hands-on exercises, demonstrations and case studies, delve into the relationship between design and making, investigating how an idea changes as it moves from the conceptual to the physical. Examine how materials and tools as well as experimentation and mistakes can influence the design process. Unpack the idea of the ‘natural maker’, the instinctive human tendency to build, manipulate, repair and understand things through doing.
Apply what you have learned as you try out different methods of representation, including sketching and model-making with aluminium foil, modelling clay, cardboard and malleable wire. Develop a small artwork based on an object of your choice.
This workshop is free, and all materials are provided.
Sharjah Art Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible. You can arrange for any support you need through the registration form.
