After its resounding success in the first season of Perform Sharjah (2022), Every Brilliant Thing returns to the programme, with performances slated for Sharjah and Khorfakkan. Taking as its point of departure a daughter’s struggle with her mother’s depression, this interactive production finds hope and playfulness in the dark by choosing to focus on the things that give life meaning. Adapted and directed by Ahmed El Attar from the original play by Duncan Macmillan, Every Brilliant Thing blurs the line between actor and spectator to create an intimate and immersive storytelling experience. Starring actress and playwright Nanda Mohammed, each performance forges a unique encounter between the audience and the protagonist, who grapples with a simple yet profound thought, a rumination on the brilliant things in life.
