Can a single camera angle shift the emotional weight of a story? This intensive two-day workshop explores the moving image as a dynamic storytelling medium, focusing on the power of deliberate framing, pacing and structure.

Blend cinematic concepts and hands-on practice to harness the full creative potential of smartphone filmmaking. As you shoot a short moving image work, experiment with camera angles and learn to use storyboards and shot lists to translate ideas into compelling visual moments. Gain further insight through a group screening and feedback session.

By the end of the workshop, you will have the practical skills and confidence to manipulate time, sequence and movement to tell powerful visual stories.

All participants are asked to bring a good smartphone camera and an editing tool on laptop, iPad or smartphone.

This session is free, and all materials are provided.

About Sarah Khorbtli 

Sarah Khorbtli is a visual artist, educator and video creator based in Dubai. Her work sits between animation and storytelling, combining hand-crafted processes with digital techniques to create visuals that feel both intentional and personal. With a background in Visual Communication from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, she has collaborated with regional and international clients like Apple, Cartier, Billboard Arabia & CNN.
