Moving Me, Moving Lines!

Ages 3–5 (accompanied by an adult)

In English and Arabic

Express the motion of your body through drawing. Begin by observing Laila Majid’s Balyage (2026), suspended in space. Notice how the hanging strands create movement, rhythm and patterns as they fall, sway and catch the light. With your children, reinterpret these movements through stretching and dance, using flowing materials such as ribbons, scarves and streamers to mimic the strands of the artwork. Observe the direction, speed and energy of your actions and the ways in which your movements create lines in the air. Then use crayons or watercolours to translate these movements into marks and shapes on large pieces of paper.
