Sharjah Art Foundation’s Music and Sound Club is a community-building project centred around collective learning.
Organised as a series of workshops and meetup sessions, the programme focuses on accessing knowledge through active, hands-on activation and experimentation.
Two strands of enquiry run through the bi-weekly workshops: tape and cassette as mediums of composition and instrumentation as well as the synthesis of AI and new musical technologies.
Also taking place fortnightly, the meetup sessions will enable participants to spend time independently, either building upon what they learned in previous workshops or developing their own projects within a dedicated space.
The meetups also double as a platform for the musicians to share the work they evolve from their individual and group-based learning.
The Music and Sound Club is open to all adults interested in music and sonic arts.

Learn how to open, splice and reattach cassette tape to build an endless loop. Once you’ve figured out the basics of manipulating tape, you will go on to explore how this tactile analogue technique can unlock novel creative approaches to sound design and music composition.

This two-part workshop exposes you to some of the most accessible yet cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools currently available to musicians and sound artists—modern software environments that let you innovatively integrate contemporary technology into your creative workflow and compositional method.

Bridging the analogue and the digital, this session encourages you to craft hybrid musical works by creatively synthesising vintage media with modern software environments.
The sessions are free, and all materials are provided.
