Join us for a four-day listening session dedicated to a selection of the available discography of the enigmatic British electronic musician Bryn Jones (1961–1999), who released hundreds of recordings under the moniker Muslimgauze.
Largely considered outside the mainstream during his lifetime, Muslimgauze’s work occupies a singular space in experimental music. His sound, as confrontational as it is hypnotic, is a percussive blend of dub, ambient textures, tape hiss and political noise. Inspired by global conflicts, particularly in the Middle East, his vast output draws on a complex mixture of solidarity, provocation and obsession. While his work has sparked debate for decades, its allure lies as much in its sonic innovation as in its cryptic political framing.
This listening marathon is not an act of tribute or critique, but rather an open-ended engagement with a body of work that defies easy categorisation. Across many hours of music, we will explore the intersections of electronic experimentation and political expression, asking what it means to listen deeply to an artist who was as opaque in intention as he was relentless in output.
We invite audiences to join us in experiencing Muslimgauze’s work as it unfolded over time—not necessarily to resolve his contradictions, but to sit with them.
