We often encounter photographs as isolated images—singular moments removed from the surrounding contexts. Within a photobook, how we read a photograph can change depending on what comes before or after it. Images begin to speak to one another, contradict one another or leave gaps that the viewer must navigate.
This meetup explores sequencing as both a visual and conceptual process. Through collective browsing, conversation and informal exercises, we will consider how photobooks shape our experience of an image. The session also opens questions around editing and construction: How do we build narratives through images? What happens when photographs resist coherence? How can a book operate as an archive, a fragment or a form of evidence?
Participants are encouraged to bring a photobook, zine, artist publication or a small collection of printed images to share with the group. Together, we will spend time looking closely at how images function across pages and in relation to one another, moving beyond the idea of the ‘single strong image’ toward photography as a spatial and temporal experience.
Rather than functioning as a lecture or critique session, the meetup aims to create an open environment for discussion, experimentation and exchange.
