Scenes Held in Memory: When Images Take Form

Ages 17+

In Arabic and English

Turn memories of places and moments into something tangible. Take inspiration from the practices of William Kentridge, Kiki Smith and Nancy Spero, whose works explore ways in which an image can be dismantled, reassembled and reconfigured in space.

After communicating memories or imagined scenes in the form of drawings, use coloured monoprint techniques to reinterpret these compositions through repetition, displacement and shifts in orientation. Allow the original image to fragment and generate multiple visual readings.

Introduce watercolour as a further layer, adding emotional depth to the surface and reshaping the relationship between memory and material.

Finally, present your works as three-dimensional elements positioned within an exhibition space.

The fee is 100 AED, and all materials are provided.

Sharjah Art Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible. You can arrange for any support needed through the registration form.
