Have you ever wanted to write a short film but didn’t know where to start? Join this two-part course led by Abdulrahman Al Madani if you are an aspiring writer, an emerging filmmaker, or a cinema-enthusiast. This session will provide you with an in-depth look at the craft of storytelling, from finding inspiration and developing ideas to translating them into compelling narratives.
Drawing on his practice, Al Madani will discuss how to create relatable characters, and how to tackle sensitive subjects, while balancing social themes with the plot. Learn how mundane, everyday occurrences can become absorbing stories for the screen.
Al Madani has written, directed and produced numerous short films, including Laymoon (2019) and Oug (2025), which premiered at the Odense International Film Festival, Denmark. He is also the founder of Meylas Aflam, a community initiative dedicated to promoting and supporting the local film scene in the UAE.
This session is free, and all materials are provided.
Sharjah Art Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible. You can arrange for any support needed through the registration form.
