Surface Memory: Relief Printmaking in Monochrome

Ages 17+

In Arabic and English

Relief printmaking captures traces of forms rather than depicting them directly, allowing images to emerge through the impressions they leave on the printing surface.

Deconstruct objects or places into visual traces of outline, shadow, texture and negative space. Transform these elements into a composition in which empty space is as significant as printed form, allowing what remains unprinted to carry as much visual weight as what is shown.

Carve a linoleum block from your design, focusing on the interplay between black and white. Investigate how a single-colour print can generate visual depth through contrast, rhythm, texture and tonal intensity.

The fee is 100 AED, and all materials are provided.
