Ages 16+
In English and Arabic
Translate your name into an artwork using modern Arabic calligraphy. Gain useful background from a historical overview of the art form and the evolution of letterforms, and watch a demonstration of how traditional principles can be interpreted in a contemporary way. After uncovering the structure, rhythm, balance and connections within your name, experiment with sketches and alternative compositions. By the end of the session, you will have developed a finished calligraphic artwork.
No previous calligraphy experience is required.
This workshop is free, and all materials are provided.
Sharjah Art Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible. You can arrange for any support you need through the registration form.
