Create clay works using hand-building techniques, with a particular focus on slab construction. Incorporate openings, curves and cut-away sections, exploring the relationships between mass and void by combining surfaces in dynamic and unexpected ways.
As you construct your work, observe how light passes through the openings and how shadows fall across it and the surrounding space. Move your work, and view it from different angles. Notice how its visual presence changes with each new perspective.
Allow the work to take its final form through drying and firing, observing how these processes reveal the subtleties of the surface while preserving the traces of hand-building.
Treat each stage of the hand-building process as an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the relationship between material and concept and the multisensory nature of ceramics.
The fee is 200 AED, and all materials are provided.
