Shift your focus from taking photographs to analysing them. Rather than learning a new image-making technique, spend time with existing photographs, and consider the choices, intentions and relationships embedded within them.
Grounded in the visual culture of the Gulf, this workshop looks at street photography as more than documentation, opening conversations around storytelling, ethics, representation and the complexities of photographing people in public space. Using selected works by regional photographers alongside images brought by attendees, we will develop a shared vocabulary for discussing what images do, who they speak to and how meaning is constructed through photographic decisions.
Open to all experience levels and photographic formats, this session offers an opportunity to slow down, look carefully and deepen our understanding of image-making through collective discussion and critical reflection.
Sharjah Art Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible. You can arrange for any support needed through the registration form.
