Description

The session provides the opportunity to view and discuss a film by CAMP, a SAF production continuing from Wharfage and Radio Meena – two connected projects developed for Sharjah Biennial 9 (2009) that examined routes and cargoes of wooden ships that dock in Sharjah creek. The creek emerges through these projects as a central character in both the past and future of Sharjah. From Gulf to Gulf to Gulf draws from four years of dialogue, friendship and video exchange between the artists and a group of sailors from Kutch, India. In their resulting feature-length experimental documentary, we see "a view from the other boat" of an ocean and its adjacent lands, full of things other than pirates, navies, oil tankers, container ships, nationalists and cultural nostalgics.
