Bernard Hage

An illustrator and cartoonist based in Berlin, Bernard Hage is the author of Anatomy of a Hummus Plate (2021), a collection of political cartoons addressing Lebanon’s recent social and economic crises. Hage’s illustrations have appeared in publications including L’Orient-Le Jour and The Economist. His work has been exhibited at Dar El Nimer for Arts and Culture, Beirut (2023) and at DAAD Galerie, Berlin (2021), among other venues. In 2022, Hage collaborated with UN Women on a campaign addressing gender inequality and women’s rights in Lebanon. In 2024, he created, wrote and hosted The Great Map of the Crisis, a five-part satirical series examining Lebanon’s modern political and economic history. He also pens satirical essays published online.
