Mark Gergis is a London-based sound producer, composer and audio archivist. He is the founder and director of Syrian Cassette Archives (2019–present), a long-term research and preservation project focused on Syria’s cassette-era sound culture. His practice spans sound production, composition, sound art, radio and audio drama, archival restoration and community-based heritage work, with a focus on diasporic contexts. Since the early 2000s, he has produced and curated archival and global music releases with international record labels, and his sound work has appeared in film, radio and video games. Alongside his archival practice, he works in sound design, restoration and post-production for cultural projects, exhibitions and independent media. He has received support from Arts Council England, the British Council and Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and has undertaken residencies and project-based research internationally.
