Giving form to the absence left by missing objects from the museum, Object of War is a solid block of concrete that materialises the void created by the consequences of war. A cast of the bullet hole left by a sniper’s shot, this object embodies a paradox: its very material—concrete—once formed the museum’s protective structure, shielding its collection. Yet, in the devastation of war, that same structure collapsed, becoming one of the forces that ultimately destroyed parts of the collection.
